What is it?

Whisky-AI is a completely personalised whisky service. Our team of Expert Whisky Lovers use the world’s first and only AI-powered Whisky Recommendations Engine to pick and deliver a bottle of whisky tailored specifically to your tastes, and at a budget and frequency chosen by you!

It's simple to get started. You tell us if you're new to whisky and need help getting started, or if you've had a fair few and just want to explore more, select a budget for a bottle and a frequency you want to receive one!

We then pick the perfect bottle for you, check with you to make sure you’re happy with it, and either send it to you straight away or work with you to make sure we find something you’re going to love. There’s no fees, you can skip any month and cancel at any time, so there’s no obligation, you only buy the whisky you want!

Set a budget

$100 is great if you're new to whisky, $150 if you've explored the basics already, and $200 if you're looking for something more unique. These are just guidelines though, you tell us how much you want to spend!

Pick a frequency

A bottle a month is a great way to get started, but you might want to spend more, less often and get something just a bit nicer, so you may want something every 2 or 3 months!

So how does it actually work?

Think of it like netflix but for whisky...

Ever watched your favourite online streaming platform and curious how it recommends the next movie or tv show for you?

It does this using AI (otherwise known as artificial intelligence). Let's say you enjoy horror films, but prefer thrillers, less jump scare films. Based on thousands of other people watching the content ahead of you and rating it, or by simply starting a movie and not watching it for 5mins, all this browsing and usage data is gathered, run through a complex algorithm (that's always learning and improving as more data becomes available for it to understand), and then next time when you log on - you are presented with a new movie or tv show that you haven't watched, but it's highly likely you will enjoy it because thousands of other people with similar tastes to you have.

In a nutshell, that's how our Whisky-AI knows how to pick a whisky just for you.

For the last 5 years we've been gathering this usage and browsing data on the whiskies and taste preferences of whisky drinkers in Australia. In 2021 so far, there has been over 7 Million searches for a bottle of whisky on TWL. That's roughly one bottle searched for every 3 seconds. Using that data, we've built our Whisky-AI which picks the best whisky for you from among 3,000+ different whiskies available from among over 20 indie retailers. You give us a budget and tell us how often you want a whisky, and Whisky-AI do the rest!

FAQs

We charge a flat $15 shipping and insure every order. Shipping is free for all orders over $200, and is automatically applied in your cart at time of checkout.

When you sign up, you'll be charged straight away for your first cycle, which will create your WhiskyWallet - like a whisky savings account.

We'll then be in touch to make sure we know your tastes well enough to get started. When we find you a whisky you're happy with the cost of that whisky will just come out of your WhiskyWallet. Any amount left over can be used anywhere throughout The Whisky List, saved for the next cycle, or refunded.

Then, for next time, we'll send you the information on the whisky picked for you in advance, so you have the opportunity to have us find something different, save up for the next cycle, pass this time, or cancel.

It's a really fun and easy way to have new whiskies picked just for your tastes.

Absolutely. There's no sign-up fee, no cancellation fee (no fees at all), you can opt out of a delivery or cancel at anytime. And if we find something that's a bit under your budget, you'll have store credit to use across the entire TWL store, roll over to the next period, or have returned to you anytime!

No sweat. Our whisky recommendations engine is always learning, and sometimes it might suggest a bottle that you don't like. This just means it needs a bit more information about your likes and dislikes still. Just let us know that you want to pass on that bottle so we can train our whisky-AI algorithm on your tastes. And it will just as quickly recommend another great bottle just for you. You can always speak to a human too - our panel of whisky experts including award winning bartenders are available to help solve any bottle queries.
